Students And Alcohol

In fulfillment of their requirement in their English Course, Writing as a Discipline, a group of students in one State Collage in a local municipality made a study with regards to Alcoholism. The Group conducted a survey on 200 students in the campus.

What is Alcoholism?

Alcoholism is a chronic, progressive, and often fatal disease. It is a primary disorder and not a symptom of other diseases or emotional problems. The chemistry of alcohol allows it to affect nearly every type of cell in the body, including those in the central nervous system. After prolonged exposure to alcohol, the brain becomes dependent on it. The severity of this disease is influenced by factors such as genetics, psychology, culture, and response to physical pain.

It is a chronic illness marked by dependence on alcohol consumption. It interferes with physical or mental health, and social, family, or job responsibilities. This addiction can lead to liver, circulatory, and neurological problems. Pregnant women who drink alcohol in any amount may harm the fetus.

However, there are Positive reasons why people still love to drink alcoholic beverages and it includes Celebrating significant occasions with friends or loved ones. Enhancing enjoyment of social activities and relaxation. Complementing certain meals. Participating in religious ceremonies. Enjoying the taste as a beverage of choice.

There are also Negative reasons and it includes: Escaping from tension or worries. Blocking out painful feelings such as fear, loneliness, and self-doubt. Attempting to relate better to people. As a substitute for meaningful relationships with people. Finding courage or strength to face certain situations.

The Survey & Results:
1. How frequent do you drink alcoholic beverages?

2. In which category do you belong?

3. What alcoholic drinks do you prefer?

4. What do you gain or benefit from it?

 5. How does it affect your body? Good, yes or no?

6. Where do you usually drink?

 7. Do you drink between classes?

8. Which is the reason why you drink?

Those are the Data that have been collected out of 200 Students  regarding Alcoholism and the conclusion in FACT's from the survey result that was conducted:

Most of the student's was drinking Alcoholic beverages occasionally, and it is a positive outcome for our campus, because it means that there are only few students who confess that they were addicted on it. Only 3 % in our basis, and we also concluded that they were much more prefer on low alcohol contents drinks which is beer and wine. When it comes to reason why they drink is because they are gaining happiness, it only means that they drink just to have more fun and there's only few students agreed that drinking can resolve their problems.

In terms of Health, the student's knew that drinking won't cause any good effect in their body, which is one of the reasons that make them to avoid drinking too much. We also concluded that most of them prefer to drink at home or in their friend’s house, rather than going on bars and nightclub's.

The number of students who admitted that sometimes they enter the campus at the same time they were drunk. In our basis 34% and the remaining 66% says they didn't try to do those acts and don't have plan to do so.

The reason why they were Drinking is because of the problem and stress that they’re coping in, maybe because it helps them forget that they have heavy problems, and lastly we conclude that 30% of the student's says the main reason why they drink is to have fun with their friends and specially family.
